Global Satellite Industry Alliance Appoints Platform Communications
London, 12 February 2019 – The SAT>IP Alliance, a global satellite industry group, appoints Platform Communications to help drive the uptake of a key technology standard that will shape the future of TV experiences.
The SAT>IP Alliance brings together leading satellite operators, manufacturers, broadcasters and service providers, including Arcadyan, Eutelsat, HISPASAT, Irdeto, MaxLinear, NAGRA, Panasonic, SES, Verimatrix and Zinwell. The group supports the use of SAT>IP technology as a way for satellite TV providers to deliver content to any TV screen, smartphone, games console or tablet in the home. SAT>IP enables a totally seamless multi-screen TV experience without using a home broadband connection. This reduces operator costs and enables advanced, multi-screen consumer services – even in locations where broadband is not reliable enough to handle live, high-definition video.
Platform Communications will support the SAT>IP Alliance with media and influencer relations, content creation and social engagement. The team will be led by Platform Director David Lawrence.
Thomas Wrede, President of the SAT>IP Alliance, said: “Platform has unrivalled understanding of the global broadcast and satellite industry. Its team really stood out for its creative and strategic approach to helping us build momentum for SAT>IP amongst the global satellite business.”
Gay Bell, CEO at Platform Communications, said: “We’re very excited to be selected to help an industry body that has brought together a who’s who of the global satellite business. SAT>IP has potentially huge implications for helping satellite providers deliver innovative experiences and compete for subscribers.”
