London, 31 March 2016 – TVT, the leading independent media services and post-production house, has announced that PA (the Press Association) is using TVT and its ContentSelect platform to improve the speed and flexibility of its video service. In deployment since early February, TVT’s service for overall content ingest, aggregation, curation, editing and package will help PA deliver thousands of videos to customers over the course of a year.
TVT’s cloud-based ContentSelect manages all phases of the editorial cycle with incoming video rushes from PA’s network of contributing journalists, live video feeds and third party content all ingested into the platform, logged and made available as low resolution proxies for viewing and online editing. The platform has been successfully integrated with the PA’s archive and library for seamless reuse of master and edited assets.
Andrew Dowsett, COO of PA commented: “People expect fast access to video content in today’s 24-hour news cycle, which means that it’s more important than ever for PA to be able to streamline its workflows and create efficiencies in the delivery of its video output. TVT’s software-based approach allows us to make rapid updates to our service without having to install costly new infrastructure. The switch to ContentSelect has already had a major impact on how quickly we deliver content to our customers as we scale up to meet an increasingly diverse set of requirements.”
ContentSelect includes a simple editing tool with outputted packages automatically transcoded to multiple formats and simultaneously distributed for publication in online services or for broadcast. The platform also provides automatic and expert driven metadata tagging of archived content for easy retrieval from PA’s video portal. The system manages delivery of the video packages, with PA able to directly manage their delivery to customers which include the majority of the UK national press, broadcasters and major online brands.
Ian Brotherston, CEO of TVT said: “We designed ContentSelect not just for traditional broadcast content preparation and compliance but to help all types of video providers enhance their services with greatly improved workflow efficiencies. The complex media processes involved in today’s digital news reporting can sometimes be difficult to manage and we’re delighted that PA is using TVT’s expertise to streamline its video production workflow. With demand for video continuing to grow, the ability to scale capacity up and down based on the news cycle is becoming a vital attribute and we look forward to continuing to work closely with PA.”
