Piksel to highlight commitment to enabling first-class viewer experiences

NEW YORK, NY, AUGUST 27, 2014 — Piksel, a global provider of video monetization software and solutions, will demonstrate at IBC 2014 (Booth 1.C30) how it is enabling its customers to excel in the delivery of advanced OTT and multi-screen user experiences. The company will showcase the evolution of its product and services suite since its launch a year ago, introducing several key solutions at the show, including its recently launched Piksel Video Platform.

Central to the further development of Piksel’s product suite is the Piksel Palette, a highly flexible SOA (services-oriented architecture) framework, which comprises a suite of independent modular cloud-based services giving maximum flexibility, cost efficiencies, and unprecedented time to market. Piksel has designed its SOA to enable content owners, aggregators and distributors to respond to the challenges of delivering multi-screen content in a cost-effective and agile manner.

“It is clear to us that a one-size-fits-all approach is becoming untenable in such an increasingly complex media ecosystem,” said Kevin Joyce, Chief Commercial Officer, Piksel. “Since the company launched a year ago, we have used our deep experience and heritage in video to design a strategy for our customers that will enable them to succeed in a true multi-screen world. This strategy and philosophy is embodied in our Piksel Palette, which provides a pick-and-mix approach so that our customers can choose only the solutions they need, based on legacy infrastructures and future needs. We believe that bringing new all-in-one shrink-wrapped solutions to the market at this juncture is a difficult business model to engage in.

“We also believe that user experience is crucial if the industry wants to move to delivering fully realized, successful TV Everywhere services. Ultimately, viewer satisfaction must be the end goal.”

The Piksel Palette is at the heart of the recently launched Piksel Video Platform, an advanced multi-screen OTT solution built on a SaaS (software-as-a-service) business model. This highly flexible and cost-effective solution will be demonstrated at IBC 2014 for the first time.

Additionally, Piksel’s booth (1.C30) will display the full diversity of its offering:

·       Managed services

·       Online video solutions (including ingest, playout, content management, delivery, encoding, digital rights, user analytics)

·       Second screen

·       User design solutions (including content discovery, personalization, social interactivity, unified player applications)

·       Digital signage

Mark Christie, Piksel’s Chief Technology Officer, will be driving thought leadership on the topic of the cloud in the IBC Content Everywhere Cloud Solutions hub in a session entitled ‘Which Cloud?’ at 11.00am CET, Friday 12th September, Hall 3.
