Springing into Showtime

Platform Communications - Ségolène RocheIf you live outside of the world of media and technology, spring usually invokes ideas of flowers, Easter eggs, sunlight and tentative delayering, as the winter clothes move further towards the top shelf. For those inside the industry, meticulous annual plans and strategies are about to face the first proper stress test of 2017 as trade show season (part one) begins in earnest.

As we saw at Mobile World Congress last month, next generation networks and mobile video are going to be among the hottest topics during 2017. Indeed, we have monitored the big trends at Mobile World Congress and collated them for you on our Platform Media Index, which you can find here.

The next few months will be dominated by a flurry of content creation, event support, press outreach and direct communications. Here is a taste of what is coming up on the Springtime Platform trade show calendar:

CABSAT (March 21-23, Dubai, UAE): Moving from the cool Catalonian coast to the dry desert of Dubai, we arrive at another key event. CABSAT provides the perfect springboard for creative Middle Eastern companies and international businesses to increase their footprint in a burgeoning technology region. Platform has supported clients in their communications in the Middle East and Africa for years, enabling them to leverage the event to showcase their expertise in content creation, delivery and security. As the satellite, digital media and broadcast industry expands in the region, we understand the importance of cutting through the noise in this competitive market, building brand presence and delivering a story that resonates with some of the world’s most tech-savvy, high-end users.

TV Connect (March 28-30, London, UK): Just one week later, the tradeshow trail leads to London and a wider discussion on the evolution of the connected entertainment industry. Held at the ExCel, the event helps visitors get a glimpse of the big trends for the year. Convergence is the big theme for 2017, showing how far the TV and media industry has gone in ensuring we gain access to video everywhere, anytime and on any platform. With new devices entering the connected entertainment mix – smartphones, tablets and smart TVs have been joined by game consoles and VR headsets, and soon the connected car will make its debut – innovation in this area is clearly driving an array of new opportunities in streaming and on-demand video. And TV Connect offers the chance to see what’s new!

NAB Show (April 22-27, Las Vegas, NV): April welcomes the behemoth that is NAB Show. Organized by the National Association of Broadcasters and held in Las Vegas, NAB Show is hardly a gamble for the industry players who invest in exhibiting and attending the flagship event. NAB Show is the place to see and be seen – and offers the opportunity to make an impact – in an industry in full bloom. For over 20 years, Platform has been helping innovators, rising stars and established TV and media technology leaders from all over the world showcase their latest solutions, services and expertise at the event.  We are proudly representing 10 companies – and counting – at the show this year, with the aim of increasing their presence both in the US and on the wider global stage.

We will be representing companies at all these shows, so if you’d like to arrange a meeting with us or any of our clients, please get in touch with me: segolene@platformcomms.com. I hope to see you on the show trail!
