- Agreement furthers The QYOU’s global expansion and marks entry into Nordic region

DUBLIN & LOS ANGELES– December 2, 2015 – The QYOU today announced that it is continuing its global expansion with a significant distribution agreement with Canal Digital Kabel, owned by Telenor, Norway’s leading telecommunications company. Launched just twelve months ago, The QYOU (pronounced: The Q) is the world’s first international 24/7 Pay-TV channel of curated, high-quality, internet video content. The service is already available in more than 30 countries, and in almost 5 million homes. The deal with Canal Digital marks The QYOU’s launch into the Nordic market.
Deloitte LLP estimates that online short video clips will generate ten billion hours of viewing a month globally this year. By selecting to distribute The QYOU, Canal Digital is directly addressing this trend with an ad-free linear channel which offers viewers 24/7 access to premium quality, curated internet videos. The QYOU offers a range of web videos including short films, comedy, music, dance and stunts. The service tailors its output depending on the time of day, for instance offering Q-Zone for a younger, after-school audience and Q-Prime later on for family viewers.
Haakon Li Dragland, Director of Content and Strategy at Canal Digital Kabel, commented: “The QYOU represents a form of content that fills a gap in our current offering. Web content is continually growing in popularity, and we find the position The QYOU is taking to curate the content exciting. We’re confident that our customers will enjoy the channel.”
The QYOU brings the best of the web to Pay-TV. The linear channel is complemented by a VOD (video-on-demand) service as well as a comprehensive set of mobile and TV apps, enabling service providers and operators to provide a full TV Everywhere service. Its international feed is HD quality and advertising-free with localized programming for specific regional markets to cater to the needs of audiences across Europe, the Middle East and Africa.
Scott Ehrlich, The QYOU Co-Founder and CEO, commented: “The QYOU is experiencing great traction with innovative TV distributors like Canal Digital that understand the importance of evolving their content offerings in line with the tastes of current audiences. Consumer appetite for web videos is only growing and the winning operators and service providers will be those that construct their Pay-TV service offerings to reflect this. We’re really excited about entering the Nordic market and further extending our presence on some of the world’s leading TV services.”
